THINGS TO DO
The Adventure Park at Petralia Sottana with its acrobatic routes

Acrobatic routes such as the Tyrolean, Tibetan bridges and tree houses are just some of the things on offer at the Madonie Adventure Park at Petralia Sottana in the district of Gorgonero. The first of its kind in Sicily, not to mention being amongst the first in Italy, this adventure park has been set up in one of the most beautiful natural areas of Sicily, a site of local interest in the “green lungs” of the countryside at the heart of the Madonie Natural Park which accounts for 80% of Sicily’s biodiversity.
In addition to being admired for the amazing natural setting that hosts it, the Park still breaks records that make it unique anywhere in the natural landscape of Italy, for example, by providing the opportunity to book an adventure stay in a tent suspended in the trees or in an actual tree house.
There are eight acrobatic routes to try, undoubtedly one of the main attractions is the Tyrolean: this consists of a steel cable that hangs across a vacuum between two trees which are more or less equidistant along which you can launch yourself on a pulley taking advantage of the gradient which will pull you along through the air. In addition to the Tyrolean, which some might find quite challenging, there are also simpler activities which can be tried even by some of the younger children which involve travelling from one tree to another over wobbly Tibetan bridges. Older children and adults will be able to enjoy the same walkways but at a height of some 10 metres above the ground which provide really spectacular and breath-taking routes. Of course, all this is undertaken securely under the supervision and guidance of the “Parco Avventura’s” instructors.
There are a variety of other activities that can be enjoyed such as hiking and mountain biking, trekking on horseback or with donkeys and workshops that are educational on the subject of the environment. The park can offer everything you could want in order to have a great time on a trip to the countryside: fun, clean air and physical activity for all the family and for the slightly lazier visitors who aren’t interested in trying out the various activities, they can enjoy an uncontaminated environment whilst being seated on the benches or even enjoying the chance to organise lunch outdoors by using the area with tables and a barbecue or by choosing to buy lunch at the refreshment point on site. Typical local products are available here for everyone to enjoy.
