Nature, forests, beaches: in one word – the Madonie. For several years now it has been very easy to explore these beauties thanks to the knowledgeable and well-researched guide by Giovanni Nicolosi who, with Madonie a Passo lento (Madonie at a slow pace) and Madonie Outdoor, strives to raise awareness and promote the wonders of the Madonie area. A perfect synergy between the two realities, which is gaining acclaim all over the world; in fact, many foreign visitors come to the Tiberius Gorges, the pride of the naturalistic heritage of the Geopark site inside the park.
The program proposed by Madonie a Passo Lento is wide and varied, perfect for those who love the adventure of the mountains and for those who prefer to relax a few steps from the sea. The activities proposed in 2018 include, in fact, snowshoeing, Nordic walking, trekking and canyoning in the Madonie Park, rafting, river trail and night-time excursions to the Tiberius Gorges, a Geopark site recognised by Unesco.
A perfect mix of adventure and fun, adrenaline and relax. Not to mention the route of the Marian Madonie sanctuaries, the paths of the Sicilian brigands and the Via Francigena through the mountains between Palermo and Messina. Because Madonie a Passo lento is also history and culture. For the past three years, Madonie a Passo lento has also been involved in work with schools on projects aimed at naturalistic and sustainable tourism.
A driving force for development in Sicily, always in step with time. In fact, this year an agreement was signed with Trenitalia allowing tourists to reach the Tiberius Gorges in the simplest possible way: they can now book their train journey and find a shuttle ready to give them a lift from the train station of Cefalù or Pollina. So that everyone, without exception, can get to know and marvel at the breath-taking beauty of this natural canyon full of history, mystery and magic. For those with mobility problems, Madonie Outdoor provides a Joelette – a mountain wheelchair that allows people with disabilities to enjoy every part of the trip.
At a slow pace with everyone and for everyone. So that the traveller can discover and feel the scents and smells of Sicily in all seasons, enjoying the view of unique still unspoiled landscapes.
